Orihuela coast, a treasure inside and out
When we speak about the Orihuela costa come to mind well looked after urbanisations, amazing coves, cliffs of transparent waters and golden sandy beaches: Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Campoamor, Playa Flamenca and Thousand Palm Trees; 16 kilometers of coastline with a quiet environment in a perfect balance with green spaces.
In addition, the Orihuela coast is ideal for the practice of nautical sports at any time of the year, thanks to the privileged climate of the area, with about 20 degrees in and around 300 days of sunshine a year.
A spectacular environment, without forgetting that beneath the surface of the sea is still a world to discover.
The diversity of the seabed of the Mediterranean coasts, and in particular those bordering the Orihuela coast, is high and varied. If we add to this, the pleasant temperatures throughout the year and the clarity of its waters, these costs are one of the most sought-after destinations within Europe for the practice of scuba diving and other water activities.
Marine Ecosystem
The temperature of the sea close to the Orihuela coast ranges between 21 and 26° in summer and between 10 and 15 degrees in winter and, only about 3 or 4 meters in depth, you can find species such as Cichlids , fish , spectacular banks of salps, heifers, red and purple sea stars, sea cucumbers or banks of castanets that look like clouds.
On the other hand, the marine flora of the Mediterranean is the posidonia . These plants make up a fundamental ecosystem for the maintenance of biodiversity: are home and source of food for many species, and a single hectare has the ability to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen as five hectares of Amazonian forest. In addition, the posidonia protects the coast because it reduces the strength of the currents and retains the sand on the coast.
The Orihuela coast offers us the most representative marine funds or in the Western Mediterranean. Rocky seabeds that harbor a wide variety of organisms; also the presence of overhangs and caves, give rise to varied landscapes, colors and diversity of species.
Biodiversity and health of these marine funds of the Mediterranean sea, can be affected by various factors that imply a great ecological loss, as well as a deterioration of its environmental quality. Pollution is generated mainly by industrial discharges, wastewater discharges, irresponsible tourism, as well as overexploitation of living resources.
Chiringuitos del Sol participates in many of the actions of prevention, cleaning and care of our coasts; always committed to sustainability, always committed to our environment.
